From Bevo to Burnt Orange: The Icons Behind Our Designs

At Eighteen Forty Two, our very first pieces were inspired by the University of Texas—its traditions, its energy, and yes, that unmistakable burnt orange. But what started as game day accessories for Longhorn fans has evolved into something more: a collection of refined, soulful pieces that celebrate identity, confidence, and where you come from—wherever that may be.

We design for people who want to wear their pride with subtlety and sophistication, not sequins and slogans. And we do it by honoring the icons that inspired us in the first place.

Bevo: The Original Muse

The very first design? A longhorn. Not the bold, blocky logo you see on jerseys—but something more fluid, more timeless. A symbol that captures the essence of Bevo: bold, grounded, and deeply Texan.

For us, it was the foundation. Our very first scarf was a lightweight white chiffon printed with soft, hand-drawn longhorns—an airy piece that felt just as at home at a tailgate as it did at brunch. It paired elegance with school pride in a way that felt fresh, not forced. While that original design set the tone, it was just the beginning.

Because now, Eighteen Forty Two designs extend beyond game day, and well beyond just Texas.

Beyond the Forty Acres

Yes, we started with UT. But today, our pieces are worn by people representing their schools, their states, their stories—whether they studied in Austin, Tuscaloosa, or Baton Rouge.

What connects them all? The desire for something beautiful, understated, and meaningful. Our work is inspired by the spirit of tradition—but made for people who want a modern way to wear it.

The Story Behind the Name

Eighteen Forty Two is more than just a date—it’s a tribute to Angelina Eberly, a woman who fired a cannon in 1842 to keep Texas’s archives in Austin. She was fierce, bold, and unapologetically protective of what she loved.

That kind of spirit is what we try to bottle in every design.

What We Stand For

We don’t do plastic hats.
We don’t do cheap.
We do accessories with soul—crafted to last, designed to matter.

Whether you’re wearing our Longhorn bolo tie, slipping on a pair of gold cufflinks, or styling one of our silk scarves, you’re not just putting on an accessory. You’re putting on a piece of your story.

Tradition, Reimagined

Eighteen Forty Two began with Texas. But we design for people everywhere who believe in wearing their roots with elegance.
